With a much needed Benefit Brow Bar appointment taken care of, I took a quick lap around Ulta to see what was new since my 2018 spending hiatus has been in full effect. To my surprise, Ulta has picked up a bunch of new drugstore brands! YES FINALLY! I was out of a few of my favorite products soooo…. $50 later, I found some new products and picked up a backup of some of my most loved ones. So here’s my haul from Ulta:
I’m going to start with the products I’ve already used before:
L’Oreal Infallible Pro Glow Foundation
I rock shade 202 even at my palest. I love this foundation because it is a cool/neutral tone – not yellow, peach, orange, or blue. It won’t be the foundation to collect around your brows or hairline. It’s really easy to apply with either a brush or beauty blender. I’ve been recently using my beauty blender for contour, highlight, foundation, concealer, and setting. Yeah, one tool – my whole face basically. It’s inexpensive and you know what kind of application you will get when you put it on.
Some foundations will look good if your skin is hydrated, but not when it’s dry – this one is consistent, even when life isn’t. It works well with all of my other skin care products, primers, powders – you name it. I love the dewy finish, but it can be locked into place with your favorite setting powder. You really couldn’t ask for more from a drugstore foundation. If you’re interested in trying it out or at least looking into the shade range you can check it out here. If you prefer a more matte finish try this one or a full coverage foundation you may like this one better. *I will say that the shade range numbers are not consistent – you may be a 201 in the matte foundation and a 204 in the pro glow foundation.
L’Oreal Voluminous Lash Paradise
Y’all should have seen this coming. It’s my ride or die mascara. I always grab the shade 200, Blackest Black. Like the Pro-Glow foundation – this mascara is ultra reliable. I know when I put it on that I’m going to have a wonderful lash day. It gives me the blown out falsie effect. My lashes are long and stay curled all day long. I am all about the bold lashes – without having to glue falsies on. I for one cannot handle false lashes. If you want the fluffy, wispy, sultry lashes every day – BUY THIS NOW. Best drugstore mascara ever. Go grab your backup tube here! I’ve heard several people say this is a dupe for the Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara, but personally, I love this drugstore formula so much better.
Essence Make me Brow
Now, I’ve used this before, but I picked up a different shade. I believe I had shade 01 before, but this time I grabbed shade 03. And oddly enough, shade 02 is the darkest they have at Ulta, but 03 is lighter than 02, but darker than 01. I really like this as a dupe for the Benefit Gimme Brow. I included this in my makeup dupes post, which you can read here. It’s a great brow product for a casual brow day and for softening an over-sharp brow. It’s hard to find a cheap brow product that is good. I will say it’s not going to hold your brows up for a fluffy, brushed up brow, but it will even out the hairs and fullness look of the brow. Also – I can’t get over the price – it’s only $1.99. So get you a tube or two. **As an update, Benefit has recently brought back Gimme Brow after a much-needed fuss was created by the rest of us! You can grab one here.
So now for the new things from my haul:
Makeup Revolution Conceal & Define
If you haven’t heard by now, a lot of people are saying this is a dupe for Tarte’s Shape Tape Concealer. The first time I used it, I was stunned. It really does apply similar to Shape Tape, but in my opinion is a little better. It’s got a great coverage but is less than Shape Tape. I say less coverage, but for me, it’s better. Sometimes Shape Tape can be a bit much. Don’t get me wrong, I love it, but I feel like it can be a little heavy. The MR concealer applies less product at once, but still has amazing coverage if that makes sense? The MUR concealer’s doe foot is smaller than Tarte’s. This makes it where I can be more precise with my application. I also feel like MUR doesn’t have to be set to prevent settling into wrinkles as much as Tarte’s does. I definitely love this concealer and can’t wait to keep using it. They have an expansive shade range to be a drugstore concealer (like 20 shades!) and hello $8.00… you can thank me later. I’ve linked to it here.
L’Oreal Infallible Pro Matte Liquid Lipstick
I grabbed shade Petal Potion and it’s a beautiful mauvy rose shade. Very wearable for every day. I swatched it on my hand and had to SCRUB to get it off. It was seriously transfer-proof when it dried, but it took like a solid ten minutes to dry down. It’s definitely one of those things you have to try out and do a full wear test with, but I have a good feeling about it! I’ll update you on it here. They have a smaller shade range because I think it’s a newer product for L’Oreal, but you can check them out for yourself here.
Wet N’ Wild Color Icon Palettes
I grabbed both Rosé in the Air and Comfort Zone palettes because, well, they were $5.00 each and have been on my NEED list since they launched. They are so dang pigmented and smooth. Mattes and shimmers. They’re literally stunning and also part of my recent makeup dupes post and can jump to it here! I’ve swatched them all and I’ve used them both for some simple everyday looks since that’s my go to, but I can’t wait to play with more of the colors. If you’re interested – I’ve seen them at my Ulta and local drugstores and I’ve linked to them here (comfort zone) and here (rose in the air).
Milani Make it Last Setting Spray
This is the most bomb drugstore setting spray that I’ve found to date. It smells heavenly and literally has the most smooth, perfect pump. The mist is even, light, and airy. I can’t wait to see how long it makes my makeup last! I just wish the bottle was bigger. They have a dewy version too, but the natural/matte finish one works way better in my opinion. If you’re on the hunt for a drugstore setting spray – definitely try this one!
That’s all the things I grabbed from Ulta recently. I’m really excited to have some new staples in my collection and get to play around with more drugstore products! With my current no-spend situation, I’m trying to minimize the excess makeup spending and really use the products I already have. Have you tried any of these? What are your thoughts?
