Guess who’s 24?! I’m kind of saddened by turning 24, but that’s mostly because I was in bed with a sinus infection on my birthday weekend, so my plans pretty much got postponed. I did make myself get up on my birthday and go get my freebies from Ulta and Sephora, which turned into a mini shopping haul. I thought I’d go ahead and share with you because I got some pretty fun stuff!
** Swatches of all of the products will be at the end!
I had been wanting to get some toning shampoo and conditioner as my natural blonde was getting a little brassy. I chose the John Freida brand, as I knew it wouldn’t die my hair purple, like some of the toning products can. It says it is for color treated hair, but I’ve noticed an impressive distance in my hair since I’ve been using it. I really enjoy this shampoo and conditioner and follow the recommended use of up to 3 times per week.
While I was at Ulta, I also grabbed the Essence Make me Brow in blondie brows (I totally meant to get the darker shade). This brow mascara is an awesome dupe for Benefit’s Gimme Brow (even the packaging is almost identical). I really like this product. It gives a great naturally full brow look alone or pairs well with your other brow products on days when you want to amp up the brows!
My freebie at Ulta was the Urban Decay eyeshadow pot in the shade Midnight Cowboy. It’s a pretty pale pink shade with silver glitter in it. It feels drier than the other UD eyeshadows and is flakier, which is disappointing, but I do like the color and it’s a $20 freebie.
I was on the hunt for a very specific lippie that I thought would be my perfect everyday shade, but of course all of the ones I fell in love with were sold out…. I ended up grabbing this Holiday mini set from Tarte. It includes a lip liner and the matte lip paint. I couldn’t find the shade of the lip paint, but the lip crayon/liner is in the shade latergram. I love these. They were around $12.00 for the gold set.
I also turned in my 100 points and chose the Smashbox Photo Finish Primer Oil. I have only used this once so I’m not sure how I feel about it. The birthday gift was a Marc Jacobs mini gel eyeliner crayon and a mini lipstick. These are both so awesome. I’m really excited to try these out soon! I also took the chance to finally try the purple Glam Glow mask. It’s the Gravity Defying mask. This feels so amazing and cooling on the face. I seriously want to go back to buy the big one, but I can’t get over the price tag. I can’t justify it.
Yes, there was a drugstore haul involved; however, I went the following Monday and grabbed this mini Wet N’ Wild Haul. I was seriously wanting one of the gold bar highlighters, but couldn’t ever get my hands on one… so sad. Anyways, I grabbed these great products at CVS instead:
The Photo Focus Setting Spray- This makes a huge difference in whether or not my makeup stays in place all day. I love everything about it, even the odd scent.
Two Color Icon Blushes- I have Rose Champagne and Mellow Wine. Mellow Wine is the brighter more coral-ish shade, while Rose Champagne is the perfect highlight/blush combo for the more natural faced days.
MegaLast Lip Color in Bare it All – this matte finish lipstick is a pretty, neutral peachy brown. I love this color and for $2, who can complain?!
Silk Finish Lipstick in Will You Be With Me? – a lippie that is pretty and only costs a dollar. I love the hydrating feel and the baby pink shade. I haven’t had much of a chance to wear these yet, but my first impression is very positive.
Lastly, but not least – Milani Lip Oil Treatment in Repairing Primrose. This. Is. The. Bomb. It prevents my typically chapped lips from peeling and being dry. It reduces the appearance of wrinkles on my lips also! It doesn’t have a strong taste – which is really important to me because I hate the taste of most lip products — don’t pretend it doesn’t end up in your mouth either. This Vitamin-infused lip conditioner is a must for everyone. They have different vitamin infusions to help with specific needs, and each is a different flavor.
Most of the products I purchased or got for free were sample sizes, but honestly, lately I’ve been loving sample sizes since I get bored of products so quickly! Sorry, I’ve been MIA, lately. Life has been ridiculous, but soon enough I’ll be finished with school, and will be focused on my main job and blogging more often!
