I received my August Glam Bag earlier this week, so I don’t feel comfortable writing a full review of these products, but I will give my first impressions and a little info about the companies and prices, etc. Here’s the goodies that were in my bag:
Dermelect ‘Me’ Peptide Infused Lacquer in the shade Unscripted- This is a pinky, purple shade that isn’t too bright. I adore the color because it’s not a shade I already had in my huge polish collection. I’ve used it on my toes, but toe polish lasts forever so the real test will be how it lasts on my fingernails. Their site shows this anti-aging nail line has been raved about by Real Simple, Elle, and Good Housekeeping. The bottle retails at $14.00 which is a little pricey, but check out the range of colors they offer! I am in love! They sent me a full sized product. I also noted that it applied really smooth and without bubbling, separation, or streaks. I’m hoping the same goes for my manicure!
Tarte Cosmetics Deluxe LipSurgence Lip Creme in the shade Wonder- This is a gorgeous pinky-red lippie. I really think I’m going to like it, just based on the swatch I put on the back of my hand; however, I will say it wiped off my hand completely with just a couple brushes of my finger so I am a little unsure of its stay power. This is a vegan friendly, cruelty free lippie and retails at $24.00 for the full sized product. They have three other shades to choose from also. This little sample fits perfectly in a purse or desk drawer and will be great for office touch-ups before meetings or a night out! Ipsy even suggests this lippie can double for a blush, which is something I never would have thought of doing.
Symphony Beauty Makeup Cleansing Wipes in Cucumber & Aloe- This is a ten pack of makeup removing wipes in my favorite scent. Cucumber and Aloe always leaves my face feeling moisturized and fresh. As you can here, I purchased a 120 count of these from Walmart recently. Having a travel size is going to be PERFECT for my upcoming beach trip with my bff. I can’t wait to try this brand out! They sell packs of 60 or 5 travel sized packs for $9.99 on their site and a 30 count pack for $5.99. I’ve never heard of this brand before, but I’ll let you know how these workout.
This Works: In Transit Camera Close Up- This cream is a mask, moisturizer, and primer all in one. It’s supposed to erase any evidence of being tired, pump up your skin, and brighten it. I tested this on my forearm one day, before putting it on my face. I wanted to make sure I wasn’t going to break out or anything crazy. I used it on my face to moisturize on Friday morning before applying my makeup and didn’t notice anything phenomenal. It seemed okay, but I want to give it a few more tries before I confirm that I like it. The full sized bottle is 1.35 ounces, and retails for $55.00. Most foundations come in 1 ounce bottles if that gives you some comparison.
NYX Professional Makeup Born to Glow Liquid Illuminator in Sunbeam- This is a liquid highlighter in the lighter of the two shades. It blends easily onto the skin and leaves a pretty light to medium intensity highlight. I’m nervous about how long it will last and interested to see if it will crease or stay smooth and even. I found Beautify Brooke had written a post which included this as one of her basics for an every day face and she suggested setting your face after applying this and/or using a powder highlight over the Nyx one. I’m excited to give it a try this week. The full size product is .6 fluid ounces and costs $7.50 from NYX.
Overall, I’m thrilled with my bag this month. I received products from two highly regarded brands that I already love; and I always enjoy makeup wipes because those puppies are expensive! The nail polish and the moisturizing primer and mask were nice surprises. Way to go, Ipsy! I’m definitely loving my subscription with them so far and can’t wait to try out all my new goodies!
